The wonderful Massachusetts scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Green River in Franklin County is 5.6 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing     to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very   demanding. Briefly about the general area: You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Living Memorial Park since you're here. Spend the day on the beach at Greenfield Beach if you're here at Green River, and a tour to Fort Dummer State Park is a great idea. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. At Green River you always meet someone from West Halifax, and a perfect site like Molly Stark State Park is too good to leave out. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Green River; Ghost Trail is a good local trail. Good hiking is available along the Mount Olga Trail.
