Massachusetts whitewater, Konkapot Brook Berkshire county, Mill River to Ashley Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-III     11 miles   This stretch of Konkapot Brook in Berkshire County is 11 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater. The wonderful Berkshire County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The starting point is not too far from Pittsfield, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here     more forgiving, so don't forget that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your sleeping bag. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Mill River to Ashley Falls section is one of them. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. There's camping available near Konkapot Brook. Briefly about the general area: Some splendid nature is available in Beartown State Forest; Konkapot Brook is close to October   Mountain State Forest which is a stunning site. While you're here at Konkapot Brook you will meet lots of folks from close by Lee; when you're here it's always fun to explore York Lake. This river is a great place to visit. Ski Butternut has glorious slopes and a friendly staff, and going for a hike along the Wild Cat Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. If the weather is magnificent here at Konkapot Brook, you can go for a hike along the Taconic Skyline Trail. Konkapot Brook is a pretty wet place generally with a lot of rainfall. The month with most of the rain is August; February on the other hand is the driest.
