  The scenic beauty of Franklin County and the water flowing gracefully down Millers River - Lower are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Springfield, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Massachusetts is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy.
    A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip.

Don't leave Millers
 
River - Lower without first going for a hike along the Sunset Trail. The snow is magnificent at Living Memorial Park, and a tour to Horse Race is always a great idea. This river is so good. Good hiking is available along the Sunrise Trail, and you'll meet a lot of people from Greenfield here. Everybody loves Fort Dummer State Park, and Greenfield Beach is a gorgeous beach to stop by. Holyoke Range State Park is worth taking a look at if you're at Millers River - Lower. All the water falling down from the sky makes Millers River - Lower a wet place. Of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is February.
