  If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Massachusetts you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. The wonderful Massachusetts scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. This is a short paddling stretch so
    better bring some good walking shoes. This section of Pelham Brook in Franklin County is 3.25 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking
this area has a large number of paddling rivers. If you're coming from Bennington it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at Pelham Brook are pretty good.

Berkshire East is a great local ski area,
 
and going to Mohawk Trail State Forest is a good thing to do. Take a hike on the Busby Trail, and the fine folks of Rowe like to hang out nearby. At this river you will never have a bad time. A visit to Monroe State Forest when you're here at Pelham Brook is never a bad idea, and Pelham Brook is right by the Dunbar Brook Trail. For the duration of the summer months highs here at Pelham Brook reach the 70's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Pelham Brook. Pelham Brook is a good location of typical rain.
