The starting location is a reasonable drive from Springfield, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. Briefly about the general area: Swift River is near Gardner State Park which is a beautiful spot, and you can have a great hiking adventure
along the Spring Trail. What would winter be without some skiing at Berkshire East, and Mohawk Trail State Forest is a wonderful place to stretch your legs a bit. This is a really good river. At Swift River you always meet
someone from Goshen. Swift River ordinarily gets much rainfall. November is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
