The Highway 45 to Highway 45 stretch of Baltimore River in Michigan is 5.4 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV+ section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Ontonagon County scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. There aren’t     any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The Highway 45 to Highway 45 section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. The campgrounds here at Baltimore River are pretty good. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The put-in location is a short drive from Houghton, please print out   a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. When you're paddling down a Gogebic Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Briefly about the general area: Go for a hike on the North Country National Scenic Trail, and Baltimore River is a location with many visitors from Rockland. All the outdoors amusing stuff in the Gogebic Range will keep you coming back many times. A journey to Baltimore River wouldn’t be complete without a journey to close by Ottawa National Forest.
