  The natural beauty of Michigan and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Michigan are often more forgiving than in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. The river winds through the Gogebic Range and you get great scenery. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. If you're coming from Merrill it's not a long

section is just one of many. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Narrows Park to Conglomerate Falls section of Black River in Michigan is 7.9 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III+ section  
by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon.

Briefly about the general area:
The slopes of Big Powderhorn Mountain are so inviting nobody can resist, and Chippewa Falls is an inspiring place to go to during your stay. That right there is loads of enjoyable stuff already but it goes on, the Gogebic Range has it all. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Rainbow Falls Trail, and you'll almost certainly meet some people from Bessemer here.
