  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Michigan is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The Conglomerate Falls to Lake Superior section of Black River in Gogebic County is 2.6 miles long and is a class IV-V(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Michigan and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great.
    You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. The campgrounds here at Black River are pretty good. There are plenty of other stretches in this
river system that can be paddled as well. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. Whitewater paddling here in the Gogebic Range is a great experience. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The put-in location is a short drive from Merrill, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.  
Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.

Briefly about the general area:
It's always splendid to have a look at Gorge Falls, and there are plenty of folks from Bessemer here. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Gogebic Range. Black River is right by the Rainbow Falls Trail; a journey to Sandstone Falls will fill your spirit with good feelings. This river is so perfect. What would winter be without some skiing at Big Powderhorn Mountain. For the period of the summer here at Black River, high temperatures regularly get into the 70's, and the nighttime is fairly chillier of course, regularly in the 50's.
