The wonderful Grand Traverse County scenery and the playfulness     of the water attract people from near and far. The average Michigan whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. The 6 miles South of Traverse City stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. This is an extremely short stretch   so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Traverse City, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: At Boardman River you always meet someone from Grawn; Boardman River is close to Interlochen State Park which is a striking location. You beyond doubt have to check out Traverse City State Park since you're here at Boardman River. Through the warmest time of the year at Boardman River highs are commonly in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's.
