Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. No matter if you're whitewater     rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This stretch of Dead River in Marquette County is 0.3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. This is an extremely short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The nature scenery of Michigan and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're   all set. Briefly about the general area: Presque Isle Point is not far from Dead River at all; you're sure to stumble upon some good folks from Marquette here. A day on the slopes of Marquette is just what you need. A common amount of rain falls here at Dead River. September is when you get the most rain here; the driest month is February. The warmest time of the year at Dead River comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and the nighttime is rather colder of course, commonly in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Dead River dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights.
