The beautiful scenery of Marquette County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. The Gwinn to River Road section of Escanaba River in Michigan is 19 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Escanaba River are pretty good. Since you're
    on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might
end up sleeping in your car. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove.
