The beautiful scenery of Keweenaw County and the water flowing gracefully down Gratiot River have people coming here. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Houghton, as you can see on the road map further down. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Michigan you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting |
here do keep in mind that rivers in this state are less demanding. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This
