If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camp stove. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The average Michigan whitewater   rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Peshekee Grade to Highway 41 section is one of them. A trip to Craig Lake State Park revives the soul, and Van Riper State Park is a magnificent place to go.
