This stretch of Presque Isle in Michigan is 1.5 miles long and has been rated as a class IV(V) section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Merrill, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The campgrounds here at Presque Isle are pretty good. When you're paddling     down a Gogebic Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Yondota Falls to Copps   Mine Road section is just one of many. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. Briefly about the general area: Lake Gogebic State Park is worth checking out if you're at Presque Isle; Yondota Falls is a pleasant local attraction. You clearly must adore the Gogebic Range. You'll meet a lot of folks from Marenisco here, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Alligator Eye Trail. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. From a rainfall point of view Presque Isle is a pretty common spot.
