This stretch of Presque Isle in Gogebic/Ontonagon County is 7.3 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The beautiful Gogebic Range scenery is an added bonus. Great exercise and just being out on the     river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The wonderful Michigan scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers   here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. Briefly about the general area: Take a hike on the Rainbow Falls Trail, and you're sure to come across some great folks from Wakefield here. Man, is there plenty of fun stuff to do in the Gogebic Range. Minnewawa Falls is a pretty location to check out while you're at Presque Isle. A visit to Presque Isle wouldn’t be complete without a journey to nearby Porcupine Mountains State Park, and a short trip to Nimikon Falls is always worthwhile. The snow is perfect at Indianhead.
