Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Michigan is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. The scenic beauty of Michigan and the water flowing gracefully down Yellow Dog River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Some people     prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. There's camping available near Yellow Dog River. If you're coming from Marquette it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Mulligan Truck Trail to CR510 stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. Briefly   about the general area: If you're going to Yellow Dog River from Big Bay, you won't be the only one, and going for a hike on the Holyoke Trail is always a great adventure.
