Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Minnesota are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that many of the     sections here are not safe for beginners. The put-in location is a short drive from Duluth, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good places for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The nature scenery of Minnesota and the playfulness of the water   are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the CR4 to CR52 section is just one of many. Briefly about the general area: A trip to Banning State Park revives the soul, and there are plenty of folks from Moose Lake here. Moose Lake State Park is a good location. During the warm days of summer here at Kettle River, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 10's with temperatures at Kettle River dipping down into the-10's throughout winter nights.
