Missouri whitewater, Lower Rock Creek Madison county, Barren Hollow to Highway E section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV     3 miles   Been here and there is not a good put-in site for a boat.  The creek is one mile from where you can park a car unless it's right next to the St Francis river and that means you won't be kayaking down this creek.  Which is impossible unless there is serious rainfall. Says Chef The nature scenery of Madison County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The rivers for whitewater rafting     and kayaking here in Missouri are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Farmington, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. When you're paddling down a Ozarks river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Barren Hollow to Highway E section is one of them. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing   to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The Barren Hollow to Highway E section of Lower Rock Creek is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class IV section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Briefly about the general area: Jordan Hollow is near Lower Rock Creek and is absolutely a glorious spot to check out, and a range like the Smith Mountains is always scenic.
