Says cjrobin The Maramec Spring to Meramec Caverns stretch of Meramec River in Missouri is 67 miles long and has been rated     as a class I section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. The beautiful scenery of Missouri and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. The starting location is a short drive from Rolla, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. A stretch of this   length does require some preparations, so better bring your camping gear along. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The wild scenery of the Ozarks is great. The Maramec Spring to Meramec Caverns stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Meramec River without first going for a hike along the Berryman Trail. Going to Onondaga Cave State Park near Meramec River is a delightful thing to do, and if you're stopping by from Leasburg, you won't be the only one.
