The starting point is not too far from Farmington, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Highway D to St. Francis River stretch of Mud Creek is 1.4 miles long and it is classified as a class IV+ section by American Whitewater. Getting     your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nature scenery of Missouri and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. The river winds through the Ozarks and you get great scenery. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance   because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is very short so better bring some good walking shoes. Briefly about the general area: Hiking is a popular thing to do around Mud Creek; Crane Lake Trail is a nice local trail. Mud Creek is close to Mud Creek Shut-in which is certainly worth going to. Good hiking is available along the Silver Mine Trail, and the summits of the Smith Mountains add much beauty to the region. This river is always fun. All through the warmest time of the year here at Mud Creek, high temperatures usually reach the 80's; the overnight is a tad chillier of course, regularly in the 60's.
