The natural beauty of St. Francois Madison County and the water flowing gracefully down St. Francis River make the trip here worthwhile. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Missouri you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep     in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. The starting point is not too far from Farmington, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The beautiful Ozarks scenery is an added bonus. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camping stuff. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking   or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Have a delightful hiking adventure along the Silver Mine Trail, and at St. Francis River you always meet someone from Doe Run. Yeah, come up here to the Ozarks for a glorious time. You might want to pay a visit to Wildcat Hollow if you're here at St. Francis River. When you're here at St. Francis River it's always fun to stop at St. Joe State Park.
