The Highway 72 to Millstream Gardens stretch of St. Francis River is 3.2 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Madison County and the cool fresh water beats anything. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive     a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The beauty of the Ozarks is a great plus for this river. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Highway 72 to Millstream Gardens section is just one of them. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.   Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: While you're here at St. Francis River you can take a hike along the Silver Mine Trail; St. Francis River is not far at all from Doe Run. Be careful coming to the Ozarks, you might not ever want to return back home again. On a nice day at St. Francis River you can take a hike along the Crane Lake Trail, and Tiemann Shut-in is also a good place to look at. This is a great river. Elephant Rocks State Park is a great place to stretch your legs a bit.
