  If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. The wonderful Missouri scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Stouts Creek have people coming here. If you're coming from Farmington it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further
    down the page with more info on that. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This section is very short so better bring some good walking shoes. You can
pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Highway M west of Ironton section is one of them. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Highway M west of Ironton section of Stouts Creek in Missouri is  
1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. Whitewater paddling here in the Ozarks is a great experience.

Briefly about the general area:
Elephant Rocks State Park is a great place to pop by, and Wallace Hollow is a fine spot to check out. If you have a thing about the outdoors you'll have a thing about it here in the Ozarks. A journey to Taum Sauk Mountain State Park rejuvenates the spirit, and there's fine hiking along the Taum Sauk Trail. This is such a great river. There are plenty of folks from Pilot Knob here at Stouts Creek, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Stouts Creek; Crane Lake Trail is a delightful local trail.
