If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections in this     state are pretty easy. The wild scenery of the Ozarks is great. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The Highway 72 to St. Francis River stretch of Turkey Creek in Missouri is 2.6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. The nature scenery of Missouri and the water flowing gracefully down Turkey Creek will make you feel great. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Highway 72 to St. Francis   River section is one of them. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: If the weather is great here at Turkey Creek, you can go for a hike along the Silver Mine Trail. A great spot to go to near Turkey Creek is Mud Creek Shut-in, and on a nice day you can take a hike along the Crane Lake Trail. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. The amount of rain that falls at Turkey Creek is close to the national average.
