  The Clark Canyon Dam to Dillon stretch of Beaverhead is 21 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Butte-Silver Bow, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The natural beauty of Madison County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people
    coming from far and near. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Clark Canyon Dam to Dillon stretch is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to
stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Montana is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy.

A perfect site next to Beaverhead is Long Gulch. Summertime highs at Beaverhead commonly tend to be in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Beaverhead through the wintertime usually plunge into the 0's. It is very dried up here at Beaverhead frequently. The month of May is the wettest with most of the rain; February is when it's the driest.
