  The scenic beauty of Montana and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. If you're coming from Missoula it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down
    the page so you won’t get lost. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at Blackfoot River are pretty good. The nearby hotels are a bit away
from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Now this is a pretty long section, so it looks like you will be camping out. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other spots. The Highway 141 to Scotty Brown Bridge section of Blackfoot River  
in Missoula County is 40 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater.

Briefly about the general area:
Good hiking is available along the McCabe Lake Creek Trail; nearby you stumble on Nevada Valley which is a wonderful location to go to. There's great hiking along the Lake Otatsy Trail, and lots of folks from Ovando come here. This river has so much to offer. Blackfoot River gets very little rainfall. The wettest month of the year is ordinarily January, that's the one that snows the most while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
