  The wonderful Montana scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Dearborn River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The put-in is not too far from Helena, as you can see on the road map further down. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. And of course, there are campgrounds
    nearby. This stretch of Dearborn River in Montana is 16 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Montana tend to be more forgiving
than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Highway 287 Bridge to Missouri River stretch is one of them. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff.

Briefly about the general area:
Here at Dearborn River there are plenty
 
of folks from Wolf Creek. At Dearborn River through the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 30's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Dearborn River temperatures descend to the 10's. It is very dried up here at Dearborn River usually. The wettest month of the year is commonly May, that's the one that rains the most while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
