The starting location is a short drive from Kalispell, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Kerr Dam to County Road Bridge section of Flathead River in Lake County is 10 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. You can enjoy this section more if you
    take your time, so pack your camp stove. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners.
A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.

A trip to Big Arm State Park when you're here at Flathead River is a fine idea; at Flathead River you always meet someone from Big Arm. A journey to Wild Horse Island State Park when you're here at Flathead River is never a bad idea. Around Flathead River you don’t get a lot of precipitation. Most of the rain falls throughout June, and February is when it's the driest. For the duration of the days of summer here at Flathead River, high temperatures ordinarily reach the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Flathead River.
