  The beautiful scenery of Montana and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The starting location is a short drive from Missoula, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater paddling here in the Lewis Range is a great experience. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep
    in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good places for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from
the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so better bring your camping gear along. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Big Prairie to Mid Creek section is one of them. This stretch of Flathead River - South Fork in Montana is 31 miles long and is a class II+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are campgrounds  
quite near the river where you can camp. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here.

Going for a hike along the Catchem Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. While you're here at Flathead River - South Fork you can take a hike along the Haystack Mountain Trail. At Flathead River - South Fork through the warm months highs are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Flathead River - South Fork temperatures fall to the 0's.
