Montana whitewater, Gallatin River

Gallatin county, West Fork Gallatin to Greek Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-III     11 miles
The starting point is not too far from Bozeman, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Gallatin County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are so many sections to paddle
in this river system, the West Fork Gallatin to Greek Creek section is just one of many. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very
near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The average Montana whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came.

Briefly about the general area:
Very gorgeous scenery and

delightful skiing is what you get at Big Sky; nearby you come across the Eldridge Trail which is a good hiking trail. All through the winter highs are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Gallatin River. Gallatin River is pretty arid ordinarily.
