  The put-in location is a short drive from Bozeman, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The beautiful scenery of Madison County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. This stretch
    of Madison River is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. If you're
a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting a good workout and a chance  
to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near.

Briefly about the general area:
Places like Henrys Lake State Park are tremendous to stop at; nearby you hit upon the Kirkwood Trail which is a great hiking trail. Going for a hike on the Cutoff Trail is always a nice adventure. Madison River is pretty dried up ordinarily. The month of June is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest of the months is January. Through the summertime months here at Madison River, high temperatures generally get into the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 40's.
