The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Bozeman, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Briefly about the general area: Henrys Lake State
Park is a good site to take a look at; don't leave Madison River without first going for a hike along the Lightning Creek Trail. Madison Side is a perfect site to check out while in the neighborhood, and there are good sites
to look at along the Cutoff Trail. This river has it all. Madison Slide is in the vicinity of Madison River and is without doubt a splendid place to have a look at.
