Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New Hampshire is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing     to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Marlow to Gilsum Gorge stretch is just one of them. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. The wonderful New Hampshire scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around   here. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the Farmers Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. Pillsbury State Park is a fine place to stretch your legs a bit, and hiking along the Marlboro Trail is magnificent fun. This river has so much to offer. While you're here at Ashuelot River you will meet lots of people from nearby Gilsum. Rhododendron State Park is a wonderful spot any time of year. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Ashuelot River with overnight lows in the 50's.
