The put-in location is a short drive from Keene, as you can see on the road map further down. The Ashuelot to Hinsdale section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. This stretch of Ashuelot River is 3.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. Whether you're whitewater rafting     or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Briefly   about the general area: While you're here at Ashuelot River you can take a hike along the Sunrise Trail; on a good day it's a tremendous idea to spend the day at Horse Race. Fort Dummer State Park is a delightful place, and if the weather is perfect, you can go for a hike along the Sunset Trail. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. A tour to Erving State Forest revitalizes the spirit, and Living Memorial Park has nice slopes and a friendly staff. Hit the beach if you want, Greenfield Beach is practically right here, and there are plenty of people from Ashuelot here at Ashuelot River.
