New Hampshire whitewater, Bloods Brook

Grafton county, Ledges section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS V     0.25 miles
This stretch of Bloods Brook in Grafton County is 0.25 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New Hampshire are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up
quick. If you're coming from Lebanon it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby
campground. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This is a very short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The beautiful scenery of New Hampshire
and the playfulness of the water have people coming here.

Briefly about the general area:
The slopes of Whaleback are so inviting noone can resist, and the Slot Trail is a great hiking trail close by. Quechee State Park is a good location to visit, and if you're here you will meet lots of folks from nearby North Hartland. This is a really good river. A visit to Ascutney State Park revitalizes the spirit; on a great day you can take a hike along the Futures Trail. If you're here at Bloods Brook, checking out Willard Ledge is a must. Bloods Brook gets a normal amount of rainfall.
