The South Acworth to Vilas Pool section of Cold River in Sullivan County is 5.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. If you're a camper     you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away   from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
