This section of Cold River in New Hampshire is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. The put-in is not too far from Keene, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. Some people prefer whitewater rafting     and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Alstead to Drewsville stretch is just one of them. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New Hampshire are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly   about the general area: You'll meet a lot of folks from South Acworth here, and Glovers Ledge is an out of the ordinary site to have a look at while at Cold River. A trip to Wilgus State Park when you're here at Cold River is never a bad idea. For the duration of the summer here at Cold River, high temperatures usually reach the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and nighttime lows all through the winter for Cold River tend to be in the 0's. Cold River frequently gets a good deal of rain.
