  The put-in is not too far from Manchester-Nashua, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Amoskeag Falls to Goffs Falls stretch of Merrimack River in New Hampshire is 5.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II+(III) section of whitewater. The wonderful Hillsborough County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Merrimack River make the trip here worthwhile. A good
    workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The Amoskeag Falls to Goffs Falls stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. There are campgrounds quite near the
river where you can camp. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New Hampshire are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots.

You'll meet a lot of people from Manchester here, and the snow is nice at McIntyre. Near Merrimack River you locate the Catamount Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. A tour to Bear Brook State Park when you're here at Merrimack River is a tremendous idea, and the Broken Boulder Smith Pond Trail is a splendid hiking trail close by. Merrimack River is a wet spot that gets a great deal of rainfall. During the month of November you get the most rain around here; January is when it's the driest. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Merrimack River, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's.
