  The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New Hampshire are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. If you're coming from Concord it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The campgrounds here at Newfound River River are pretty good. The wild scenery of the White Mountains
    is great. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Newfound lake to Bristol stretch
is one of them. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The nature scenery of Grafton County and the water flowing gracefully down Newfound River River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make  
reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch of Newfound River River in Grafton County is 1.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater.

Briefly about the general area:
Rollins State Park is both wonderful and pretty, and it's in close proximity to Newfound River River; you can go for a hike on the Melton Falls Trail. Be careful coming to the White Mountains, you might not ever want to go back home again. Here at Newfound River River there are plenty of people from Bristol, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Tenney Mountain is relatively near.
