New Hampshire whitewater, North River

Nottingham section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II     3 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New Hampshire is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The wonderful New Hampshire scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The nearby hotels are a bit away from
the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch of North River is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. The put-in location
is a short drive from Laconia. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. There are no other sections to paddle along North River than the Nottingham section. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch.

Briefly about the general area:
North River is in close proximity to Pawtuckaway State Park which is a striking location.

Good hiking is available along the Campground Trail, and at North River you always meet someone from Nottingham. This river is always fun. Do schedule some time to explore Seamans Point in the neighborhood of North River if you have a chance. Through the long summer days, highs regularly are in the 80's at North River. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are typically in the 30's, and overnight lows throughout the winter for North River tend to be in the 10's. North River usually gets a great deal of rain. The wettest month of the year is ordinarily November, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is January.
