  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This section of Peabody River in Coos County is 5 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting a good workout and a chance
    to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The starting location is a short drive from Berlin, as you can see on the road map further down. The nature scenery of New Hampshire and the water flowing gracefully
down Peabody River attract people from near and far. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Route 16 to Gorham section is one of them. The river winds through the White Mountains and you get great scenery. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length  
for a morning trip.

Briefly about the general area:
Everybody loves White Mountain National Forest, and you can have a perfect hiking adventure along the Stony Brook Trail. That right there is loads of entertaining stuff already but it goes on, the White Mountains has it all. A trip to Moose Brook State Park revitalizes the soul, and during your trip here you'll meet some folks from Gorham for sure. This river is so wonderful. Hiking along the Imp Trail is pleasant fun; everyone close by loves skiing at Wildcat Mountain. The annual rain here at Peabody River is about average.
