New Hampshire whitewater, Pond Brook River

Grafton county, Baker Pond to Wentworth section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV-V     3 miles
The Baker Pond to Wentworth stretch of Pond Brook River in Grafton County is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. A good workout and spending some quality
time in nature will make you glad you came. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The beautiful scenery of Grafton County and the water flowing gracefully down Pond Brook River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The beauty of the White Mountains is a great plus for this river. If you're coming from Lebanon it's not
a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.

Briefly about the general area:
Don't leave Pond Brook River without stopping by Cardigan State Park, and this is a popular place for people from Wentworth. If you want a good time in the great outdoors just come on up to the White Mountains. Take a hike on the Three Ponds Trail; Tenney Mountain is a tremendous local ski area. Coming to this river is always a good idea.
