New Hampshire whitewater, Sawyer River

Carroll county, Livermore section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS V     3.5 miles
The beautiful scenery of New Hampshire and the water flowing gracefully down Sawyer River will make you feel great. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New Hampshire are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. If you're coming from Laconia it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map
further down the page so you won’t get lost. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This stretch of Sawyer River is 3.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater
to be a class V section. There's camping available near Sawyer River. When you're paddling down a White Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This is a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over
and over. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

Briefly about the general area:
There are perfect locations to discover along the Livermore Trail. Mt. Washington State Park is a delightful location to stretch your legs a bit; skiing at Attitash Bear Peak is one of those things you just have to do. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. Go for a hike on the Mount Tremont Trail; at Sawyer River you always meet someone from Bartlett.
