This section of Souhegan River in Hillsborough County is 5.75 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Hillsborough County and the water flowing gracefully down Souhegan River are in themselves reasons enough to come here     to paddle. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New Hampshire are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The Greenville to New Hampshire Route 101 stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Briefly about the general area: A glorious forest   close to Souhegan River is Russell-Abbott State Forest; there are plenty of folks from Wilton here at Souhegan River. Have a great hiking adventure along the Mitchell Hill Road. Everybody loves Willard Brook State Forest; if you're here you can take a hike along the Wapack Trail. Hit the slopes at Crotched Mountain close at hand, and you can always enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Campers Beach. Miller State Park is a good place to go if you're at Souhegan River, and if you're looking for a beach nearby we recommend Picnickers Beach.
