Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The North Newport     to Route 103 stretch of Sugar River is 2.8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The beautiful scenery of New Hampshire and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. Briefly about   the general area: Pillsbury State Park is a good location to have a look at on a beautiful day, and tremendous hiking is available along the Monadnock Sunapee Trail. A day at wonderful State Park Beach in close proximity to Sugar River is a pleasant thing to do. A day on the slopes of Mount Sunapee is just what you need; Mount Sunapee State Park is both good and picturesque. You're sure to stumble upon some fine folks from Plainfield here, and you can spend the day on the beach at Dewey Beach. Throughout the days of summer at Sugar River temperatures are commonly in the 80's.
