New Hampshire whitewater, Suncook River Belknap county, Suncook dam to Center Barnstead section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     2.3 miles   This stretch of Suncook River in New Hampshire is 2.3 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Laconia, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The scenic beauty of New Hampshire and the water flowing gracefully down Suncook River have people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both,     doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This river system has a few   good paddling stretches and the Suncook dam to Center Barnstead section is one of them. Briefly about the general area: The wonderful folks of Barnstead like to hang out nearby, and on a delightful day you can pop by Alton Town Beach. There's great hiking along the Campground Trail, and the skiing at Gunstock is fine. This is a great river. When you're here at Suncook River it's always fun to take a look at Pawtuckaway State Park, and Wolfeboro Town Beach is a beautiful beach to take a look at. Suncook River is near Bear Brook State Park which is a stunning place. The Catamount Trail offers hiking at its best.
