New Hampshire whitewater, Wild Ammonoosuc River

Grafton county, Wildwood to Covered Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-III     10 miles
The put-in location is a short drive from Berlin, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful scenery of New Hampshire and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The beautiful White Mountains
scenery is an added bonus. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too.
And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots.
This section of Wild Ammonoosuc River is 10 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater.

Briefly about the general area:
The Cobble Hill Trail offers hiking at its best, and there are plenty of folks from Lisbon here at Wild Ammonoosuc River. And if that's not sufficient there's loads more enjoyable things to do in the White Mountains. Really great skiing awaits you at Cannon Mountain, and Wild Ammonoosuc River is right by the Black Mountain Trail. This river has so much to offer. Franconia Notch State Park is both good and beautiful, and it's in the vicinity of Wild Ammonoosuc River.
