The nature scenery of Passaic Morris County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you're coming from New York-Newark-Edison it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so     you won’t get lost. The campgrounds here at Pequannock River are pretty good. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some   kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The Route 51 to Alt Route 511 section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Briefly about the general area: A day on the slopes of Hidden Valley is just what you need, and you're sure to encounter some smiling people from Butler here. The Cannonball Trail is a splendid hiking trail right next door to Pequannock River. Pequannock River commonly gets lots of rain. For the period of August this area sees the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. High temperatures at Pequannock River during the days of summer are in the 80's.
