The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. The river winds through the Sangre De Cristo Mountains and you get great scenery. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds |
here at Rio Pueblo are pretty good. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area
| with plenty of rivers for that. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Rio Lucio to Confluence Rio Grande stretch is one of them. The put-in location is a short drive from Taos. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The nature scenery of New Mexico and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great.
