  The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The scenic beauty of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. The wild scenery of the Catskill Mountains is great. The put-in is not too far from Oneonta, as you can see on the road map further down. A
    stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The Turnwood to East Branch section of Beaver Kill River in Sullivan/ Delaware County is 32 miles long and is a class II-III
section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Turnwood to East Branch section is one of them. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but  
you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
Lots of people from Roscoe come to Beaver Kill River. All through the warmest time of the year, highs commonly are in the 80's at Beaver Kill River while nighttime lows are typically in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Beaver Kill River plunge into the 10's. Beaver Kill River is a reasonably wet place ordinarily with much rain. May is the month that gets the most rain; the driest of the months is February.
